Africa Memories began with a simple idea. That the most meaningful journeys aren’t rushed or pre packaged. They’re personal. Thoughtful. Built around people, not tick lists.

For us, travel has never been about moving from one highlight to the next. It’s about the quiet moments between them. The early morning mist in the hills. The sound of birdsong drifting through forest canopy. The laughter shared with a local guide or the warmth of a village welcome. These are the memories that stay with you long after you’ve returned home. That belief is what shaped Africa Memories.

We create tailor made journeys through Rwanda and Uganda that reflect who you are and how you want to experience this part of the world. Some travellers come for gorilla trekking and classic safaris. Others want hidden trails, remote landscapes and time to really connect with local communities. Many want a bit of everything. Whatever your pace and priorities, we design each trip from the ground up so it feels entirely your own. Because when a journey is personal, it becomes unforgettable.

We’re passionate about showing travellers both the icons and the hidden corners. Of course you’ll trek for gorillas, search for lions and cruise along wildlife-rich rivers. But you’ll also meet the coffee growers, craftspeople and community leaders who give these landscapes their heart. You’ll learn the stories behind the scenery and see how conservation and tourism can work hand in hand to protect wildlife while supporting local livelihoods.

About our founders

Africa Memories was founded by safari guide Uwase “Annie” Anuarite and Yves Munana, whose roots in the region run deep.

Growing up among Rwanda’s rolling hills and green valleys, Annie developed a lasting connection to the land from an early age. Time spent outdoors, surrounded by forests, farms and wildlife, shaped a lifelong love for nature and a desire to share the country’s beauty with others. What began as pride in her homeland grew into a calling to become a safari guide and introduce visitors to a side of East Africa that is authentic, welcoming and often overlooked.

Together with Yves, that vision evolved into Africa Memories.

Their goal was never simply to operate tours. It was to create experiences that feel genuine and respectful, journeys that celebrate local culture, support conservation and leave a positive impact on the communities they touch. Every itinerary reflects that philosophy, combining expert local knowledge with thoughtful planning and heartfelt hospitality.
